Philosophy

Storgatan 19

To showcase Sweden at its best in the most beautiful landscape is something we truly want to do. 

How do we do that? Well, we work with Swedish ingredients all the way through and have a curiosity in what we do. 

We cook the food we ourselves want to eat when we go out to eat, we mix cocktails that you can't be bothered to make at home but that everyone wants to try, and we have a range overall that makes you just like we are - curious and damn pumped up.

The Story of Storgatan 19

The dream of a Dalsland pearl

Tommy and Oliver Tveter had a dream of starting a restaurant where they could invite people from all over the country to showcase the finest Sweden has to offer, and something for us Dalsland residents to be proud of.

Tommy reached out to Emil Åreng to ask how to best start up a restaurant. 

Emil had some expertise from his own bars and restaurants, but also needed a partner who could show how to cook the most delicious food from the best ingredients and manage a kitchen. 

Legendary chef Johan Eriksson joined Emil in Bengtsfors, along with Tommy and Oliver, to create what became known as Storgatan 19 - a Dalsland gem without frills. 

Flavors and service should be just as we like it, without having to explain it.

The Team

Restauranteur

Oliver became a restauranteur as quickly as you can say Pepparstek (pepper steak). With experience from the boat industry, he knew how to sell things with a smile, which he has brought with him while running Storgatan 19.

You will often find Oliver behind the bar where he mixes cocktails he loves and the goal of becoming one of Sweden's best bars is not unattainable, neither according to himself nor Emil Åreng, who has become a sort of mentor for Oliver.

Kitchen Chef

Kitchen Chef Jennifer - She who runs the kitchen and ensures that the food on the plate always tastes excellent and looks good. A rock we can't do without.

Himself

The bartender from Bräcke. Known for promoting Swedish spirits and for his bars - including Facit Bar in Umeå that put Swedish flavors on the map. Emil has shaped our concept and continues to contribute with his creativity remotely.

Johan Eriksson

Mentor

Chef from Piteå, known for his time at Noma and as head chef at Oaxen, where he and his team achieved two Michelin stars.

Johan laid the foundation for Storgatan 19's kitchen and now supports the team remotely with his expertise.

Owner

The entrepreneur who felt there was a need for a place where he could eat, drink, and be happy.

Now he owns Storgatan 19 and can dine out almost every day.

In the kitchen, we needed to strengthen the team with a driven and service-oriented person. Amanda has studied in Germany so maybe she will take care of Friday's schnitzel?
