Bäckefors bruk, located in the southern part of Bengtsfors municipality, was once one of Sweden's most modern ironworks. The Lancashire method for iron production was introduced here, revolutionizing the Swedish iron industry. The ironworks had its heyday in the 19th century but closed down at the end of the same century. Today, visitors can explore the ruins of the old blacksmiths' workshops. It is a place filled with history and natural beauty, perfect for a year-round excursion.
