Bäckefors bruk, located in the southern part of the Bengtsfors municipality, was once one of Sweden's most modern ironworks. The Lancashire method for iron production was introduced here, revolutionizing the Swedish iron industry. The ironworks had its heyday in the 19th century but was shut down at the end of the same century. Today, you can visit the ruins of the old forges. It is a place filled with history and natural beauty, perfect for an outing at any time of the year.
